Lord of the Rings

I have read & re-read "The Hobbit" & "The Lord of the Rings Triolgy" for most of my life.
I have seen each of the efforts of those who would try to bring the People of Middle Earth to life.
Always, the films have been short and animated, in short... a huge disappointment.

Then I heard that Peter Jackson and New Line Productions, Inc. were going to make a new set of films.
The Lord of the Rings triolgy would be made as three live action, full length films.
Just as there are three books, there would now be three films.
I couldn't wait! Perhaps, finally, Those stories,lands and people that I had cherished my whole life,
would finally be brought alive through the eyes of Peter Jackson.

In December, 2001, with the help of my son & daughter-in-law, I made it to the local theatre.
I should mention here, that I am agoraphobic, suffer severe panic attacks and rarely leave my home.
I was determined to see these films on a big screen, even if only once.

As I sat in the darkened theatre, I saw all my hopes for this film confirmed.
There before me was the Middle Earth I had always seen in my mind while reading the book.
Viggo Mortensen was Aragorn as I had always wanted to see him, Gandalf, kindly yet powerful,
Legolas & Galadriel, Arwen & Elrond, beautiful and fair, tall, noble and elegant
and the lovely little Hobbits! Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin & Bilbo! Just as they should be!
Rivendale,The Shire,Moria, Mordor! Each place and person perfect!

Then, December, 2002, Eagerly awaited second film!
How could anything, be equal or better than the triumph of last year.
ShadowFax, Brego, Gandalf the White, Rohan, Helms Deep,Gollem! All there, all perfect!
Tears sprung to my eyes when ShadowFax came up over the hill,
Aragorn, grown more kingly, yet so humble, The wonderful Hobbits again!
This film even better the first!

I have only just started my LOTR pages, there's much more to come
& while I doubt any of the cast or crew will ever see this humble site,
I send them my most heartfelt graditude for all the amazing work & care
in bringing Middle Earth and it's inhabitants to life for one lifelong Elf Friend!
